Quick Takes: Zum Schneider, NYC Bierhaus
At the urging and invitation of one of my coworkers, I traveled to the far reaches of New York City’s East Village last night to Zum Schneider, a small German-style bierhaus. This is the kind of place that serves beer by the liter, instead of in pints and what-have-you.
The verdict: awesome. The menu was straight-up German food, and I had a Brotzeitteller plate of cold cuts and cheese to accompany the liters of Schneider Weisse, Spaten Optimator, and Hofbrauhaus Muenchen that I quaffed joyfully. (A full draft list and menu are available at their website.)
Great beer variety, awesome food, and a wonderful atmosphere. Two enthusiastic, hung-over thumbs up.
